• National ITE Certificate (NITEC) in Food & Beverage Operations Programme
  • Introduction

    Coleman College is an Approved Training Provider of the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) which is a government institution under the Ministry of Education providing training to secondary school leavers and working adults. On successful completion of this course, students will receive the National ITE Certificate (Nitec) in Food & Beverage Operations awarded by Institute of Technical Education which is recognised by the Singapore government.


  • Course Objectives

    This course provides students with the basic knowledge and skills in the fundamentals in food and beverage services, in preparation for their qualification and career in the hospitality industry. 

  • Combined National ITE Certificate and Diploma Programme:

    1. National ITE Certificate (Nitec) in Food & Beverage Operations
    2. Diploma in Hospitality Management

    National ITE Certificate (Nitec) in Food & Beverage Operations

    • 6 months of theory and practical training
    • 6 months of paid Industry Attachment in an ITE approved Industry Attachment Centre (IAC)
    • Basic Restaurant Service
    • Beverage Service
    • Restaurant Service
    • Related F&B Operations
    • Tableside Service
    • Service Quality
    • Menu Planning & Costing
    • F&B Sales and Catering
    • Industry Attachment

    Diploma in Hospitality Management

    • 6 months’ full-day (intensive programme)
    • Introduction to Marketing
    • Human Resource Management in the Hospitality Industry
    • International Strategic Management
    • Organizational Structure & Effectiveness
    • Convention Sales & Services
    • Front Office Operations
    • Housekeeping Management
    • Food & Beverage Service Operations (Exemptions granted)

    Upon completion of Diploma in Hospitality Management, students’ could progress to the Advanced Diploma in Tourism & Hospitality Management Programme, which consists of:

    • 6 months of Theoretical Studies
    • 6 – 12 months of Applied Internships to the USA, New Zealand

     

 
  • Course Duration

  • 12 months full time study includes:

  • 6 months: Theory and Practical Lessons
  • 6 months: Industry attachment in Food & Beverage outlets approved by ITE. These outlets include hotels, country clubs, restaurants, resorts and cafes.  A monthly allowance will be paid to the trainees during this period.

    Pre-requisites for Foreign Students

    • 3 GCE ‘N’ levels with a pass in English
    • 2 GCE ‘O’ level passes or equivalent
    • Completion of Year 10 education or equivalent
