  • The Law degree of University of London is of international standing. Over the last 100 years, the LL.B. has provided the first step on a career route for thousands of practicing lawyers within the Commonwealth and around the world. As a general rule, the external LL.B. degree is not accepted for the purpose of practicising in Singapore after 1996 notwithstanding the fact that many practising lawyers in Singapore are holders of the same external degree. However, it is highly recognised globally and allows one to practice in the UK, Australia, Malaysia and other parts of the world.

    This Course would interest:
  • Individuals who wish to practice as Advocates and Solicitors, other than in Singapore (by continuing their studies to complete the LL.B. degree);
  • Court clerks, police officers, legal secretaries who require additional knowledge or qualifications for purposes of career advancements;
  • Individuals with a personal or professional interest in legal and contractual matters; or who have a specific interest such as those in arbitration, human resource and the insurance industry.

  • For this programme, Coleman College works in collaboration with ITC-INTECH Training Centre using trainers and facilities approved by the Ministry of Education, Singapore.

    Regular Classes for the compulsory subjects are conducted twice a week on Thursdays 6.30pm-8.30pm and Saturdays 2pm-6.30pm. Optional subjects would be taught on certain weekdays 6.30pm-10pm. Please refer to our Class Timetables for more information.

    In addition, there would be an eight-weeks Intensive Revision Programme held in March/April to prepare the students for the examinations, during which time classes would be held four times a week, on Saturdays, 2pm-9.30pm; Sundays 10am-5pm; Mondays and Tuesdays 6.30pm-9.30pm.

    Special classes / Talks by University Professors would be held from time to time. There would also be two Mock Examinations held in November and March every year to give the students an opportunity to gauge their ability.

    Students may also be asked to submit written assignments by their lecturers during the course of study. These are purely intended to monitor the students' progress during the course of study and would have no effect on the final examinations conducted by representatives of the University of London.

  • Course Materials:

    ITC would provide lecture notes and other materials to complement the lectures / tutorials. Students are advised to purchase the recommended textbooks for the respective subjects (which would cost around S$50/- each). They may also access our library facilities to refer to the textbooks or law reports. All students will also be given user-ids and passwords to access our online learning portal, at no additional cost.



    We do have an easy Installment Scheme for students facing financial difficulties, however it is applicable only to the Course Fees payable to Coleman College. Please contact us for more details on the installment plans.
 
  • Entry Requirements:

Conventional Entry

The applicant must a least be 17 years old and satisfy the general entry requirements to the LLB which is:

Either passes in:

2 subjects at GCE A Level + at least 3 further subjects at GCSE or GCE O' Level (at not less than grade C or a "Pass" if taken prior to 1975)
OR

3 subjects at GCE 'A' Level + 1 further subject at GCSE or GCE 'O' Level (at not less than Grade C)
OR

2 subjects at GCE 'A' Level + 2 further subjects at 'AS' Level
OR

Other qualifications that the University deems fit (eg. Diplomas, etc.)
