Working experience in design/design-related industry or relevant Diploma in a design discipline. Subjected to portfolio interview with a member of the teaching staff
- The aim of the Higher Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design is to develop creative, theoretical and technical skills in our students together with an understanding of the professional and business aspect of design. It is carefully structured to meet the demands of the industry and the challenges of education through exploration of the art of visual communication. Students are encouraged to develop intellectual maturity, curiosity, personal innovation, risk taking, independent enquiry and effective management and planning. On completion of the course, students will be able to convey and integrate their knowledge, understanding and skills in effective ways within creative practise, employment, research and self-fulfilment.
- The programme explores the art of visual communication though the understanding and practice of creative design and effective advertising in areas such as corporate design, web site design, packaging and experimental design.
- This course is predominantly a research and project-based course developed to allow students to explore the creativity and practicality of Graphic Design. The course prepares students for work as an independent, group or corporate designer in all fields of design. Throughout the course, students will attend lectures and workshops, which contextualise the main study. Written analysis, research finding and contribution to discussions are important parts of the academic experience. Students negotiate, plan and manage their individual/group projects with the support of tutors who act as consultants and academic guides.
- Learning Outcomes
- Industry professionals and current diploma holders, may choose to pursue their education, by taking a Higher Diploma, and Advance Diploma in Graphic Design. Upon successful completion of these two qualifications, students will possess high level skills required for art and creative direction in design studios or similar environments, and have better career advancement opportunities.
