  • Graphic Design
Graphic Design is about finding a solution to a problem using creative and effectual visual communication. The art of solving design problems does not only involve an understanding of the principles of design, but also how to analyse a problem and propose an informed solution.
  • Graphic Designers are researchers, organisers, analysts and presenters of information. They educate, inform and entice an audience through the use of words and image in areas such as packaging, editorial, information, advertising or web design.
  • Introduction
Distinctive characteristics of our Diploma programmes consist of the development of the ability to conceptualise, produce, promote and present ideas for material outcomes.
  • You will be expected to produce creative work with a particular target audience in mind through visual communication that stimulates visual interest in the viewer. You will be given the opportunity to develop the ability to write and increase verbal communication skills through interaction with peers and lecturers, both informally through written reports and visual journals in relation to assigned work and group critique/discussion sessions and formally in traditional presentations of finished design work.
  • Throughout the Design Diploma programme you will be required to develop high levels of self-motivation, curiosity, investigation, imagination and unique thinking skills. You will learn about the interactive link between materials, media and processes and the important relationships between creator and target audience.
  • Learning Outcomes
  • The Graphic Design Diploma course is meant to broaden the perspective of students in the field of design, through research and creative thinking, and also provide them with the necessary academic training to become illustrators, creative specialist, website and editorial designers.

The course is structured into 18 units covering in detail, ideas and concepts, design and visual communication theory, desktop publishing skills, hand rendering techniques, and professional practice. These assets will provide our graduates with the necessary industry skills to start their careers as full fledged graphic designers, and other related fields.
  • Although largely print orientated, this diploma also covers basic website design techniques.
